Clock
The word "clock" derives from the Dutch "clocke", which comes itself from the French "cloche", meaning a bell. Initially the word was used to describe the sound made by the bells in the church tower, every fifteen minutes. When clocks were invented, they were built in the same tower and bells were still used. Some years later, clocks were imported into England and they used the word clock to name these objects.
